# How can an agent watch that a site or an endpoint is up, and alert someone when it breaks?

Free hosted checkers cover most sites: UptimeRobot's free plan watches 50 addresses every 5 minutes, for any use including commercial, and Better Stack's free plan, for personal projects, watches up to 10 with Slack and email alerts.

To keep it in your own repository, Upptime checks your sites from GitHub Actions every 5 minutes and opens an issue while one is down. Uptime Kuma is open source, for a machine of your own that stays on.

AgentMart's Uptime watch checks up to 3 addresses every 5 minutes for $2 per 30 days and, when one breaks and when it is back, emails your human (once they confirmed their address) and, if you name one, puts a message in a Webhook inbox ($1 per 30 days).

## Free ways

Checked on 2026-10-24. Facts about other services come from their own pages; the sources are under each one.

### UptimeRobot

A hosted checker that requests your addresses on a schedule and alerts you when one fails, with a status page.

- Free: Free plan: 50 monitors, checked every 5 minutes, up to 5 integrations and 1 status page.
- Account and card: An account. It says no credit card is required.
- Without a server: Yes.
- Keeps: 3 months of logs on the free plan, response times included, in your account.
- Mind: Its terms say the free plan may be used for anything, commercial use included; the plan's own line calls it good for hobby and non-profit projects.

### Better Stack

A hosted uptime checker with incident alerts and status pages.

- Free: For personal projects: 10 monitors and heartbeats together, Slack and email alerts, 1 status page.
- Account and card: An account.
- Without a server: Yes.
- Keeps: In your account. Its pricing page does not say for how long.

### Upptime

Open source (MIT): a GitHub Actions workflow visits your sites every 5 minutes, opens an issue when one is down and closes it when it is back, and builds a status page. It can also notify Slack, Telegram or a webhook.

- Free: No cost on a public repository. On a private one, each job counts as at least a whole minute of the 2,000 a month that GitHub Free includes, so a check every 5 minutes, 8,640 runs in 30 days, uses them up.
- Account and card: A GitHub account.
- Without a server: Yes: it runs on GitHub.
- Keeps: Response times are committed to your repository, for whoever can read it.
- Mind: GitHub's schedules run at most every 5 minutes and can start late at busy times, when some queued jobs may be dropped.

### Uptime Kuma

Open source (MIT) and self-hosted: a monitoring app with checks as often as every 20 seconds and 90 or more notification services.

- Free: No cost: you run it yourself.
- Account and card: Nothing.
- Without a server: No: it runs on a machine of yours, with Docker or Node.js, that must stay on.
- Keeps: On that machine. Only you can read it.
- Mind: If that machine or its network goes down, nobody is alerted.

## When AgentMart fits

Uptime watch: We check up to 3 URLs of your live app every 5 minutes. When one breaks, we email your owner (once they have confirmed their address) and put a message in a Webhook inbox you name (bought separately); when it is back, we say so the same way. $2 per 30 days.

Your human pays first, with a top-up of at least $5 by card, unless a new account uses the free start (its rules: https://agentmart.ciphyr.ai/llms/free-start.md). Unused balance expires 12 months after your last top-up or purchase. Any top-up or purchase starts the 12 months again. Our guarantee and your human's legal rights are in the terms.

- Up to 3 public https addresses on the standard port (443), each checked every 5 minutes. An answer other than 2xx or 3xx, or none within 10 seconds, counts as a failure.
- 2 failures in a row, or 3 of the last 5 checks, open an incident; 2 good checks in a row close it.
- On each incident, one email to your human once they confirmed their address (at most 20 uptime emails in 24 hours), and a message in one of your webhook inboxes (Webhook inbox, $1 per 30 days) if you name it. When it is back, one more of each.
- Who can read the results: Only passports of the paying owner can use the instance.

Ask your human before you buy: it spends their balance. Over MCP (https://agentmart.ciphyr.ai/mcp):

```
buy {"item": "uptime-watch"}
uptime_add {"instance_id": "<instance_id from the answer>", "url": "https://your-app.example.com/health"}
# We email your human when it breaks and when it is back; with "inbox_instance_id" (one of your webhook inboxes), you get a message there too. Any time:
uptime_status {"instance_id": "<instance_id>"}
```

Over HTTP, with a session token your signing code made (the manual's Auth page: https://agentmart.ciphyr.ai/llms/auth.md):

```
curl -X POST https://agentmart.ciphyr.ai/v1/orders \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AGENTMART_SESSION" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"item": "uptime-watch", "idempotency_key": "my-uptime-1"}'
curl -X POST https://agentmart.ciphyr.ai/v1/utilities/<instance_id>/checks \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AGENTMART_SESSION" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"url": "https://your-app.example.com/health"}'
curl https://agentmart.ciphyr.ai/v1/utilities/<instance_id>/checks -H "Authorization: Bearer $AGENTMART_SESSION"
```

## When not to use AgentMart

- A free checker's plan covers what you watch: they watch many more addresses.
- You need more than 3 addresses, or checks more often than every 5 minutes.
- You need to alert someone other than your paying human, or by SMS, chat or phone: we email only them.
- Your human does not want to keep a prepaid balance.
